It is strongly suggested that you DON'T just jump into this system and race to the end of this section and the Goals Program Planning Sheets and then race through everything else. It IS recommended from past successful experience that you first skim through the entire program getting "the feel" for the entire system. Then go back and take one section of the Table of Contents on the left at a time before advancing into the potentially even more fun sections. Read through the ENTIRE section once before going through it again with more thoughtful care using the "funnel approach". As a friendly reminder, the funnel approach is to begin with the big picture in mind (overall concepts), then gradually progressing towards more precise understanding of the details for faster overall successful results. And that is what you are after, isn't it? Successful meaningful results? The second reading is for understanding of the concepts leading to more precise understanding. Otherwise, expect the consequences... Prove by doing. Remember that the system has and does work. But YOU have to prove it to yourself and the only way to do that is by actually following directions, DOING the system as described UNTIL you understand it. Initially, just do it. Later, the understanding will come. That is what is meant by "prove by doing". Also, that is what some of my clients have told me to stress to would-be successful users of the system. So, please, follow THEIR admonition. Follow directions first. Then you will learn WHY you did what you did.
Your Goals Program Rather than
shooting from
the hip
continuing in
the confusion,
frustration,
anger,
bitterness, and
the rest of
those feelings
of emotions
of financial
uncertainty,
begin by
establishing
YOUR own values
system,
your
goals,
your
objectives,
and/or
your rewards
on why
you want to
become more
financially
successful.
The more you
can detail
these goals,
the stronger
your
seriousness and
future
success.
As an example,
rather than
saying I want a
new car, say
something
like: I
want a brand
spanking zero
miles on the
odometer new shiny
baby blue
metallic
Mercedes 560
with supple
pewter gray
leather
interior and
full luxury
sound around
stereo system
including the
CD / DVD player,
cassette,
radio...
etc. Be
specific with
details.
And the goals
MUST be
YOURS. No
one else’s.
Here is a
hidden secret
discovered a
long time ago
in my decades
plus research
on budgets and
budgeting.
Imposed upon
goals have never
worked for very
long.
They must be
YOURS and/or
your whole
families
together.
1. Your attitude and seriousness are the keys to success. * Mentally, the serious attitude should be "Simply because governments, successful businesses & individuals budget, I should budget, too." Everyone budgets to some degree - formally on paper or informally "shooting from the hip". Formal budgeting or planning on paper is recommended. When you do, it can be used as an excellent financial planning tool. I call it a Life Finances ... Made Simple. How do you plan to acquire your income? Spend your income? Acquire your assets? Spend your assets? Taking time to plan almost always pays off. It must come from YOU. * Physically creating a sound and well-thought-out planning budget/Spending Plan is simply based on individual and/or family values, past experience, current situations, future expectations, desires, and wants. Again, it must be from YOU and YOUR desires. * No two Spending Plans are the same. There are too many variables and differences in personal and family values as well as situations. Therefore, there is no such thing as an in-correct Spending Plan or a bad Spending Plan IF it works for the individual and/or the family that established it and it honestly mirrors their values and their standards and their input and they are the ones to use it. THAT IS a good Spending Plan/budget for them. (The key is that it works... and the individual/household defines the word "works".) Hence, it is YOURS and YOUR household's. You own it and it shows your seriousness for the "things" that you want.
2. It takes time and effort for a solid foundation to build upon. * It is suggested that sufficient time initially be set aside to do the planning process completely and properly. The more time devoted to this initial exercise, the less time the overall process will take and the more desirable the outcome will be in the long-term. (Experience by existing clients using this system now indicates that ONLY two minutes a day just before brushing the teeth before going to bed at night is all it takes once the initial planning has taken place. Only two minutes a day! Can you handle two minutes a day? Less time than it takes to get undressed at night. The key is take the time to do it right up front and then only two minutes a day before your teeth get brushed!) Some suggest setting aside one whole day for the entire initial process. No more. Most may want to do this on a Sunday as THE first-day-of-the-rest-of-your-financial-lives-day. If necessary, it may be wise to consider taking a day off from work. It could be time well spent! (As a weak alternative... you may also consider breaking the exercise down into two or three parts over several days, evenings, and/or a maximum of one week. Any more than one week, the question arises on how serious you are. As an example and pardon the example but consider the merits of it - if your toilet were broken, how much time would it take you to get it fixed? Would it take you a week to fix it? Isn't your life broken without good finances in order? Isn't it time to get serious?!? Really serious?) What is recommended for this whole first-day-of-the-rest-of-your-life Sunday? - Over a two or three hour period, perhaps in the morning, each member of the family should do this process by him/herself without any distractions. - Obviously, if you are a single, then you can skip this next comment. Once each member completes their own individual piece, then everyone in the household should get together and complete a "Master plan" for the whole family, perhaps in the afternoon. - Once a workable plan has been created, you may want to celebrate with a meal out in the evening. (Hence an "all-day" affair.) * This one day devoted to your finances may well be worth the one full day off from work even if there is NO PAY!!! You may want to consider the importance of this exercise like preparing your annual taxes, yet with more pleasant results. Perhaps as a result of this day’s activities, you may realize: 1.) hundreds if not multiple thousands of dollars in increased annual savings 2.) more goals achieved faster with less "friction" 3.) better financial understanding and appreciation of how things are inter-related 4.) a much closer family relationship... and happier... 5.) much more peace of mind knowing there IS more money than month left.

3. Mentally understanding what is behind your "finances" is the first super key step to financial wisdom and future financial liberty and financial freedom. * Some questions you may want to ask yourself: - What are my values? What is important to me in all 7 areas of living (Spiritual, Family or Social or Relationships, Educational or Personal Growth, Physical or Exercise, Recreational and Miscellaneous, Professional and Income Related, and Material or Possessions or Accomplishments)? Consider each with the following time frames in mind: - short term (3 to 6 months to under 1 year)? - intermediate term (1 year to 5 years)? - long term (5 to 10, 15, 20, 30, etc. years)? - Please remember that a Spending Plan (budget) will not work well unless the person(s) involved in creating it or that helped create it ... created it honestly with good information. Also remember, there are no right nor wrong answers. They MUST reflect YOU and YOUR interests. - What are my goals, my objectives in all financial areas of living (Direction & Planning, Current Position, Debt Management, Risk Management, Funding for "toys" and/or other issues, Tax Management, Retirement and/or Long-Term Care, Estate Planning & Charitable Giving, Investments & Other)? As you did for your values program, consider the following time frames for each goal: - short term (3 to 6 months to under 1 year)? - intermediate term (1 year to 5 years)? - long term (5 to 10, 15, 20, 30, etc. years)? - What is it that I want from this Spending Plan exercise? How does that relate to my goals, my objectives and my values in each of my areas of living? Treat each individual area in and by itself prior to considering how it may relate to the other areas. - Can I make a decision about choices? Am I or how willing am I to sacrifice or to be flexible to achieve my desires? A successful Spending Plan sometimes requires choices between two goals or values. Only those involved in the actual spending can determine those choices and values that WILL need to be made and therefore that will result in a successful Cash Flow Spending Plan. Others may provide input, but ONLY those directly involved MUST make the decisions and choices! YOU must make all decisions remaining totally in control. This is a secret few realize and even fewer understand. * Your personal answers to these and other goal and objective-seeking and value-oriented questions are your potential benefits! These benefits to YOU will be the reasons you’ll need to be successful in budgeting. The more you WANT these benefits, the greater your success should result from your efforts. "Care enough for a result and you most certainly will achieve it." William James said that.
The next link is to some aids to help you crystallize your thinking and write out your thoughts and emotions concerning your values and your financial quests. Again, consider these over at least two or three UNdisturbed hours. But first, one additional concept towards success.
7 Laws of Success* One concept towards success:
1. Fix the right goal - (Completing this exercise may assist you in crystallizing your goal setting providing you with a roadmap to achieve your objectives.)2. Education or preparation - (Learning to understand the whys behind your decisions as your financial foundation progresses forward may give you more rapid peace of mind.)3. Good health - (Isn’t it time to reduce the stress in your financial life while having increased fun improving the quality of life with your family? Learn what causes good health... and ... sickness or poor health.)4. Drive, doing, accomplishment - (Are you serious or just wishing?)5. Resourcefulness - (Finances affects all areas of life. Possibly consider using cost-effective professionals and free resources while you retain making all the decisions in your quest for sound finances. A super word of caution as many professionals no longer really put their clients first, unfortunately.)6. Perseverance or stick-to-itiveness - (Regardless of income, assets, debts and/or credit status, most new Referrals and Clients will experience distracting events sooner or later. Plan for them with determination addressing them in advance with flexible alternate plans to continue in your progress.)7. Contact with, guidance and help from the correct source - (This system can’t replace THE Master, but it might be able to help you help yourself in many ways.)
* Adapted from a booklet with the same title by Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong, who went from 28 years of dire poverty to an income in excess of $200 million annually before he died in 1986. To have and read the complete booklet, go here to obtain your own FREE copy or read it online. Next SUPER Key Assignment: 1.) Each person should make a complete set of the following 6 sheets completing them for their own values, goals and objectives determination. For the financial perspectives, you may want to keep in mind "What Is Financial Planning?" located in Section 1 Welcome or by clicking here. 2.) Once individually achieved, the entire household should get TOGETHER re-doing the exercise TOGETHER completing a NEW all-inclusive set of 6 sheets as a Master Household plan.3.) Once these are achieved, congratulations are in order. And a SUPER SUPER congratulations you deserve. Going through this exercise puts you in an extremely fine minority of achievers no matter what your current status is at the moment. A major first step you have taken. Major. Now, you are ready to start another fun process.
FREE GIFT TO YOU Now please allow me to give you more than what you expected. If you had not gone through this program then you would not have known about these next FREE items. They are freebies to you. It DOES pay to complete things once started. Paraphrasing a saying many know of, "Count the cost before beginning and then begin if you have what it takes to see it through. Put your whole life into it and it will pay you back big time." Please enjoy these additional unexpected gifts towards your goals in life because you followed that principle. Other Unexpected ExtrasOne final comment for you to ponder before you proceed to the next step. As Winston Churchill used to say, "IF ONLY... if only you would listen to what I say, you can be the most blessed people on this earth." Your future rests in your hands whether YOU will LISTEN to this program... It truly is upto YOU. Remember, it has worked for others as they LISTENED to the system. Will you listen?
Warning! PLEASE ... take this warning seriously! Your future depends on it. IF... you don't implement what you have read, then the system will NOT work! Remain steadfast on a daily basis - two minutes a day every day - to remain well grounded or you'll return to your former ways of unhappiness going astray! Very serious warning! Understand that it takes 30 consecutive days to form a new habit, so if you miss even one day, then it will take a new 30 days to jump-start the habit again and it will be much more difficult to get started again. This process is called "shaping of or re-shaping of the mind". Be extremely sober in reading this super-serious attention-getting warning! It's your responsibility to work the system. |
