Module 1 - 4 Weeks

Ambition, Drive & Motivation

Bookmark and Share

Have you gone through the Obviousness Module yet?  If not, stop...

... and go back and do that Module first.  It really is critical as the rest of the AGS Life Academy experience is based on what is obvious and what is not and learning to discern the difference.

Have you gone through Orientation - Part 1 - How to get the most out of this Academy experience?  That teaches some fundamentals of how to study for YOUR best advantage and a whole lot more to prepare you for the rest of this Academy.

For example, do you follow directions?

By the same token, have you gone through Orientation - Part 2 - How to tailor everything to YOU?  Obviously, there are some fundamentals there as well to make your life as a student simpler and easier.  i.e. ...

  • goal setting and value determination tied to YOU.
  • time management and organization also tied to YOUR schedule that YOU have created for yourself based on YOUR goals and values.  There is only 24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week, 728 hours in a month and 4'368 hours in 26 weeks (182 days) - the length of this program.  Are you using them to YOUR advantage or how could you better utilize them, even if you have to sacrifice something for the "new YOU"?
  • keeping informed with key sites with a purpose to learn how to see the difference between "slants" and agendas of others objectives.  So, you can read  between the lines  so to speak.
  • health and exercise program that YOU can do that YOU are comfortable with.
  • finances - getting YOUR finances into a somewhat organized manner so you can finish the 26 weeks 6 Modules program without worrying.
  • other practical techniques as in how to study and process of osmosis and everything from Orientation - Part 1, which came before that.

Should Be Obvious

Again, making something that should be obvious, even more obvious.  And emphasizing the obviousness.  So, upfront, a word of caution ...

A Word of Caution In General:

Do NOT accept EVERYTHING you read from any source (including this Self-Help website) as what YOU should do or think.  Use YOUR filtering system AND prove ALL things for yourself.

YOU have to live with whatever decisions you make and whatever you do.

Therefore, prove all things.

We do NOT endorse nor accept nor believe EVERYthing that is written in ANY of the non-AGS Life Academy listed  websites or books (with a few select exceptions), on tapes/CDs/DVDs or in the various seminars, workshops, boot-camps, "whatever" listed anywhere on this website or from other websites linked here.  With or without great reputations.

Now, that is quite the blanket statement.

Read it again to understand - we recommend these items that are listed, but not necessarily EVERY point they make.

That is up to YOU to discern which YOU want to believe or not believe and that decision can only come from YOU.

Having said that, we  DO  believe and strongly endorse reading the specific textbooks, sites and other resources listed as there IS a lot in each one of them to learn.

AND, ... we do recommend reading and studying the material in the order they are listed.  They are listed in a specific order for multiple reasons and personally selected over the hundreds of other potential textbooks the President could have chosen.

Each Module will explain the whys behind each textbook.

While we're at it, please remember all aspects of the Academy including the assignment sections.  For example, the recap page per program taken.  I.E.  The Diploma Program Recap Page has several daily, weekly, Sunday, monthly, per Module and other assignments scattered throughout for a reason.

We do want and expect YOU, the student, to learn obedience to follow directions and read every word to understand and then be able to think.  To think for yourself.  YOU are being trained to be not the norm.  YOU are special.  Very special.  YOU are a future AGS Life Academy graduate.  Very much of the uncommon elite.

This is so YOU can teach others in the future raising the standards of the world one graduate at a time. Actually, raising the standards far beyond the norm.  Uniquely.

Remember that the Academy is to teach wisdom and each assignment does that even more.  A true personal growth Academy.

YOU are the reason for this Academy.  YOUR improvement.  We believe YOUR potential is so much greater than even YOU can believe.  With all due respect, you don't have a clue at what YOU can become.

In 6 Modules in 26 short weeks or 6 months, write us and tell us what you think.  Are we right or not?

Please understand, as it was mentioned decades ago now, .... IF ... you can glean just one new item and implement that one new item, then the time spent getting that one new item from whatever source you received it from (including this Academy) was well worth it.  If two, so much the better.  we're expecting a whole bunch more than one or two items...

Each Module Is Jam Packed

That Obviousness Module and everything before that is jam packed trying to assimilate or put each principle-learning previous stated step into practical functioning organized routines for really a simple and easy course thereafter.

(Now, that is a mouthful.  But also full of meaning.  Better read it again.)

If you haven't learned yet, slow down and read every word TO UNDERSTAND.  DO NOT SKIM.  This is NOT a speed oriented program.

It IS designed to be completed in 26 weeks though.  Yes, it can be done faster or slower as it is tailored to your pace.  As long as you read to understand what is read, watched, heard or done.

The first 30 days is what we ask for.  To begin to SEE the results for yourself.  Put the thrusters on full blast.

Begin to do the entire program without shortchanging anything or skimming through anything.  As the President was taught at the hospitality and service school, "everything has a place and everything in its place."

Let me repeat that modified a bit

Everything has a place ...
at this Academy & for a reason ... and everything in its place ... for  YOUR  best learning.

Before we start this Module, consider the following clip from ABC News about a boy born without arms.  Richie Parker and his unstoppable spirit.  Then consider your excuses.

Or consider this video clip on what YOU can do.  The girl who silenced the world for 5 minutes.

Module 1 - A heavy duty, jam-packed lots here, Module.

If you haven't done so before, quickly order and have these 2 books/booklets arrive urgently for this Module:

While on these sites or any other textbook sites ordering them, read all if not most of the reviews.  Note some of the reasons why they are on this Academy's textbook list and anticipate what YOU will learn.

Read The Autobiography of Ben Franklin as the first in the series of textbooks here at AGS Life Academy.  (Combined, all 11 textbooks should not cost more than $150 delivered to your door.)

[By the way, did you know that is $150 is the maximum the President of AGS Life Academy started with to plan and launch AGS Life Academy?  He did that purposefully to show anyone can do whatever they want with proper dreaming and proper knowledge.  We do teach dream big dreams and reach for the universe.]

Digest this Classic - The Autobiography of Ben Franklin - as you read it, perhaps going through it multiple times here in the first Module.

The first time reading and when reading anything, read it all the way through.  The second time, read it again with a yellow highlighter highlighting the key points YOU think are important.  Then, go back and read it a third time studying it more profoundly attempting to internalize those points you highlighted.

This book is critical to set the stage for what follows as each of these 6 Modules in this foundation are.  YOUR future is the rest of your life.

Remember, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of YOUR life.

How do YOU want to shape it?  The same as the past five years?  Or, ... is it time to make a change?  A determined change to never again be like these past few years?!?!?  For YOU to be in charge and not at the mercy of others over YOU?  Or around YOU?  For YOU to be in charge of YOU?

Yes, YOU can do it.  Keep going.

This Module's foundational book will open YOUR mind and force YOU to think.

As Winston Churchill is well known for saying, "the further back you look, the further forward you can see."

In other words, look into the past as to what has worked for others in an obvious way and what has not worked, also, in obvious ways.

This Module will build in you the capacity to dream big dreams, which is what we want YOU to do.

Your potential is beyond your wildest expectations and YOU need your mind expanded to accept what you can become and be.  Step by step just like school - kindergarten to grammar school to high school to higher education and beyond.

According to,  this textbook about Ben Franklin is a wise choice to begin the series of practical street-smart readings and learnings.

Benjamin Franklin was not only one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.  He was a leading writer, publisher, inventor, diplomat, scientist, and philosopher.

He is well-known for his experiments with electricity and lightning, and for publishing "Poor Richard's Almanac" and the Pennsylvania Gazette.  He served as Postmaster General under the Continental Congress, and later became a prominent abolitionist.  He is credited with inventing the lightning rod, the Franklin Stove, and bifocals.

Read some of the reviews on on Benjamin Franklin and consider some of the lessons you might learn with this book and the others books you have ordered for this Module.  Enlightening, wouldn't you say?

Some of the things one can learn from this textbook and this First Module

Ben Franklin set the stage for YOU.  For YOU to become as great as they were.

Look at where Mr. Franklin came from and what he had to endure and the obstacles he had to overcome without real family or other support at such a young age.

Think of putting yourself in his situation and learn that it can be done.  Stop and consider - doesn't Benjamin Franklin take away YOUR excuses?

  • He was a young lad on his own in two unfamiliar countries with nothing and in some cases less than nothing learning to live within his means while taking care of others.

  • He learned not to trust others regardless of their position.

  • He learned how to eat for the least amount of money and be more healthy than his peers.

  • He set goals and then went out and achieved them.

  • He learned good work ethics in how to succeed on his own while planning for the future and saved money in the process.

  • He listened to others but made his own mind up as well.

As a special project, do an internet search on legless or armless and see the individuals didn't use their handicap to hold them back.  You will find a few of these elsewhere on this site as well.

Saw this and thought how appropriate

Rich Principle Learning Has Begun

There really is so much in this textbook.  An excellent foundation to build on.  Some real excellent all around incredible fundamental principles.

One key principle is character.

After Franklin discovered all that it meant, it became important to him as well.  Then, he set out methodically in raising his own standards.  The President of this Academy did the same thing when he turned his life around.  We're suggesting you do the same as Mr. Franklin and the President.

And look at his attitude.  Many say if Ben Franklin did it and the our President did it, there is hope for anyone.  We ask, including YOU?

This Module's selection of textbooks is an excellent ambition and drive builder.  A great motivator and an encourager as well.  And a whole lot more.

Lots of foundational principles.  Key, fundamental principles.  Principles in how to live life more abundantly.

A real good book to begin the practical street smarts series for YOUR personal growth, wouldn't you agree?

You will need those traits - ambition, drive, motivation, being encouraged - as you progress.

YOU & AGS Life Academy

That's one of the objectives as to what AGS Life Academy is remember.  A preparatory type ambition, drive and motivation building school.

To prepare YOU for YOUR future.  To give you ambition.  To give you drive and motivation so YOU can be the best YOU can be.  Not to live someone else's life or live as they want YOU to, but live as YOU want to.  Abundantly and beyond your wildest dreams.

To develop the whole person.  In all 7 areas of life.  In whatever field of endeavor or industry, or business, or public life or whatever YOU choose to do in YOUR future.

In other words, to live life more abundantly.  Without discouragement or feeling inadequate or being worthless.  Feeling as a major contributor and a "somebody".

The Academy is filled with encouragement, motivation, practical how-tos, if someone else can do it, then you can too.  It takes away any and all excuses.  Puts the onus on YOU where it belongs.  YOU.

From nothing but ambition, drive and motivation and practical everyday no-nonsense street smarts you can do as well.

All within 6 Modules designed to be completed in 26 weeks (6 months) of concentrated studying of a few select textbooks that are uncommon but super practical  AND thinking AND in the process, tailoring it to YOU.

Again, as is talked about elsewhere, yes, the program can be done in less than 26 weeks or it can be done longer than 6 months.  At the individual student's pace.  Day or night.

The Academy prepares YOU to go forward in YOUR quest for greatness.

You'll look back in 6 months or however long it takes you and you'll marvel at the progress you'll have made.

You'll think it really was much easier than you expected.

You'll even have had fun in the process.

Excitement along with the sincere smile on YOUR face will boldly come forth like never before.

That's what we expect and guarantee.  All from a FREE Self-Help Academy.

By the way, here is a comment from a former student of the old Academy (before it was shut down and now being re-organized, re-developed and re-laucnhed) about this Module's textbook:

As a nice bit of timing, the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin arrived, in time for me to bring it on my journeys to the AHVMA convention in KY.

I read some things (actually many), that I thought would be of benefit to your AGS Academy students.  For one, his 13 points program for self improvement.  I laughed however, that he suffered mightily in the same skill - that of "order".  His remaining tenets for a good personal life, though, are excellent, and worth sharing.

Thanks for the recommendation.  It is a bit of heavy reading sometimes, due to the old English, but still a remarkable accounting of a life well lived in service to humanity.  Politicos would do well to read and adhere to his beliefs.

A quick update from PJ...

I finished the book this morning.  Might re-read it, as it is full of advice for bountiful, grateful living.

Once you have finished the Autobiography textbook of Ben Franklin, read "The Way To Wealth" by Benjamin Franklin.

We trust you have read the comments on that Amazon website about this super short classic.  And it is a classics for a reason.

You should be able to complete it in one sitting.  Even though it is a short book, it is super powerful dealing with money and wealth and how to get and have both.

Especially effective after Ben Franklin's Autobiography and obviously compliments the Autobiography.

Then, ponder the two together and how they relate to YOU.

Life is like a cup of coffee.

Watch this short clip and consider this Academy is all about a cup of coffee.  YOUR cup of coffee.

Module 1 On-Going Family Fun Assignment

Now that you have completed Module 1, here is a fun assignment to teach even more lessons about life and bring the family together even more.

Try to incorporate a family game night at least once a week in your activities.  One of the games we recommend is chess.  This game will teach strategies and various roles of the pieces in the big picture scheme of things.

The game pieces don't have to be elaborate, gaudy but real plain and simple and straight forward clearly indicating what piece they are.  Each serves a purpose and it will behoove family members to learn what those roles are and how they can be used for the overall purpose of the team of either white or black game pieces.  Neither white nor black is better than the other.  Just a different color representing the team they represent.

Reward Yourself

Once having completed the reading assignment, it is time for your Music Appreciation class.  If at all possible, find a classical concert in the area and go.

Dress up nice and treat yourself.  Take someone else with you if possible.

Do an investigative study about the particular concert you are going to.  Discover talking points concerning the artist (composer) and all the who, what, when, where, why, how, and the purpose of the concert when it was first written.

Begin a new notebook or file on Music Appreciation with these notes and what YOU, the student, got out of the concert, if anything.  Wait at least 3 days before you write about your thoughts in that regard.

Towards the conclusion of this month, take the last few days to review How To Get The Most Out Of This Academy and also The Purpose, Objective & Vision pages.  Do this before you begin the next section.  Then, ponder deeply what YOU got out of this first month at AGS Life Academy.  Think about YOU.  Are YOUR goals still the same?  How would YOU modify them or tweak them to be more current for YOU?  Look at the time management section once again.  Update your progress.

By the way, are you keeping a journal of your progress?

Now is the time to consider either the Certificate Program or the Diploma Program, wouldn't you say?

Towards the conclusion of this Module and before you go to the next Module - Module 2 (Human relations & emotions - building, maintaining and controlling for unworrying confidence for winning results at the heart of your being), take the last few days to review a few things:

Again, consider each of the 7 Areas Of Life for overall balance.

Even though no required attendance, homework or other assignments are necessary, we do suggest to do the assignments of the Diploma Program FOR YOURSELF.

If you did these in the Obviousness Module, you probably will already begin to see why they are included and how you have already SEEN progress in your "new YOU".

Those items for graduation with a diploma include:

  • papers - what YOU got out of this Module

  • self examination - relate the Module to YOU

  • journal - keeping track to look back later and be WOWed

  • 25 questions - instill it even further in you while learning to be a leader

  • quizzes - staying informed is important to be forward thinking

  • music appreciation - enjoy the finer things in life

Then, go out to dinner and enjoy the reward.  You've earned it.  Make it special.

Additional Reading To Consider  After  The Initial 6 Modules Program

I Can by Ben Sweetland

Acres Of Diamonds by Russell Conwell

As A Man Thinketh by James Allen

The Greatest Salesman In The World by Og Mandino

"Politics Among Nations: The Struggle For Power And Peace, 5th Edition" by Hans J. Morgenthau - hold off on reading this one.  This is important but perhaps others might be more important initially.  Maybe used as research material.

Others - before you begin reading any additional books, ask what the 7 "ideal other" textbooks are AND in which order to read them in AND whether these 7 should be read even before the ones listed above to be considered  after  the initial 6 Modules.

One Final Suggestion, Please

Also, if you would please, send a quick note to AGS Life Academy as to what YOU thought about this Module and/or any comments you'd like about YOUR experience with the Academy so far.

Please understand that not only will each comment be read, digested and perhaps considered for further developments here but they may also be used on the site as what others think of the Academy.

Thank YOU.
