You can't get the heat from the wood stove until you put the time and effort in to cause the heat to be forthcoming.

First, you must prepare the wood stove setting it up in the right spot with the right ventilation and surrounding protection.

Then, you need to put in some flammable material such as paper.  Then small kindling and then larger logs.

Finally, all that material requires to be lit.  Then..., and only then...

... does any heat come out.  Work first.  Then results.
