FULL DISCLOSURE - "Success: The Glenn Bland Method"

Back in the 1970s when I was seeking how to be rich and important listening to those that I wanted to emulate, several individuals told me to increase my reading (which wasn't hard for someone who did little to no reading).  They told me to read not sensational or romance novels but self-help, motivational, inspirational, sales and human nature oriented along with history books and material.  I obeyed and instituted an immediate reading program.

That program I still maintain today yet somewhat modified.  You can see here a list of some of the books/material in my own library and/or have read.  I've increased the time DAILY devoted to this area.

Anyway, during those early years of my all-around character and success-oriented development, one book stuck out in my mind.  Several books have done that.  Yet, one in particular shocked me and left a lasting impression on me.

That book was Success: The Glenn Bland Method by Glenn Bland.  Why is this important?  Simply to understand part of my philosophy behind helping others.  It is just one of the foundational principles I found tremendously beneficial.

He gave numerous tips on success throughout the book.  Yet, what I found startling was actually on page one.  Mr. Bland began by stating many top successful executives are on this reading program themselves and begin their day every day by reading.  They go to the office early and close the door for quiet undisturbed personal growth time.  (This may not be exact as a number of years have gone by since reading this book, but believe this is just about accurate.)

He shocked me by saying many of those super successful executives, which is what I wanted to be, believed in a God and unashamedly read the Bible daily for inspiration.  Now they didn't go out and prostylize their beliefs but what they read in The Bible did affect their daily business decisions.

When confronted about their "beliefs", they didn't shy away from answering sincere questions, but again, they didn't try to convert others to their faith, whatever faith that was.

This totally shocked me.  Now, I believed in a higher being but had no clue of who and what was God and wasn't really interested in finding out at that time.  But I did want to become a success and if these executives believed in God and sought out The Bible on a daily basis, then something in that book I needed to find out about.

It has been years and even decades since that book "Success: The Glenn Bland Method" and today believe I'm still a student of the book he recommended - The Bible.  Not in a convert others manner, but for my own benefit in how to be successful.  There really is so much in the Bible that blows the socks off.  Very practical and up todate modern how to live life abundantly with a true peace of mind textbook that I've found no other place.

Today, Mr. Bland's method of acknowledging that many top executives read The Bible on a daily basis yet don't go about flaunting it nor trying to convert others is what I've tried to emulate.  This website is an example.

According to recent statistics where most people believe in a God, I do acknowledge God, but won't try to convert anyone to what I believe or the God I believe in.  Actually, I don't advertise even the denomination I belong to nor the church I go to.  I do list quite a few spiritual sources for information and news and support of information on this website.

Most of my readers are intelligent adults, while some are still teenagers still in the formative stages of their lives.  All can make up their own mind in what to accept at this time or perhaps file away in a "later" category or perhaps maybe outright reject certain aspects without rejecting the whole message of the website.

Hence, I no longer shy away from talking about God and present the spiritual side in as general terms as possible without attempting to tell which God to believe.  That is up to the individual and most can do that on their own and don't need me.

Therefore, from time to time God is mentioned on this site in generic terms hopefully not to offend anyone.  Besides, many of the media on all sides of this issue from the far far left to the far far right and several religions in between do much more talking about God and spiritual things than I will.
